A STORY OF
PASSION AND INNOVATION
It was in 1952, on the picturesque roads of the villages that today form the MRC of Lajemmerais, that Gaston Dulude and Marie-Rose Dalpé brought their entrepreneurial dream to life by founding Verchères Express.
Armed with determination and a six-wheel Chevrolet truck equipped with a canvas box, Gaston traveled the roads, rain or shine, to serve warehouses and general stores.
OUR JOURNEY
1952
Gaston Dulude and Marie-Rose Dalpé took over the Desmarais Transport license, acquired a few years earlier by Marie-Rose's father. The couple renamed it Verchères Express enr.
1960
The company's first major contract was the delivery of the famous Verchères rowboats to provincial parks. This was made possible by an innovative lashing system developed by Gaston, allowing them to be transported without damage on bumpy roads, even as far as Chibougamau!
1961
The eldest son, André, joined the business. At barely 17 years old, he had to take the wheel instead of his father, who was hospitalized for several months. The garage, located at the family residence, now had several trucks driven by other family members, while Marie-Rose handled the administrative tasks.
1975
The company changed its name to AGD Verchères Express inc. (A for André, G for Gaston, and D for Dulude), which would give it its trademark "VEX". Already working part-time, Jacques, the youngest son, decided to join the company. He would eventually become general manager with the vision of taking it to the next level.
1988
Construction of the head office in the Verchères industrial district.
2002
Addition of a 6-door shipping dock to handle the high demand for low-truckload (LTL) transport.
2012
Conversion of the adjacent building into a secure and heated 33,000 square foot warehouse.
2019
Additional yard has been developed for outdoor storage. This large space can now accommodate over 500 40-foot containers. AGD Verchères Express has become a leader in container storage, a more flexible, secure, and economical solution than conventional trailer storage.
Today
The third generation, composed of Véronique, daughter of Jacques, accompanied by Sylvain and Serge, sons of André, proudly take over the company while keeping in mind the rich history behind the company's roots, the hard work of Gaston and Marie-Rose and the offering of a custom made and quality service that has set the reputation of the family company for more than 70 years.
